Project Description

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is the client of the ASAT Hurma Wastewater Treatment Plant, financed by the World Bank. Construction of the Hurma Wastewater Treatment Plant, where sewage from the western section of Antalya is treated, started in 2009; the unit was subsequently commissioned in August 2011. The scope of the project was as follows:

  • Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • Sludge Digestion
  • Biogas Storage
  • Odor Removal with Chemical Scrubbers
  • Desulfurization Unit

Process
At the Hurma Wastewater Treatment Plant, the extended aeration activated sludge process (aka Bardenpho process) is used for the removal of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater.

Goals
Treated wastewater – with a removal efficiency of 98% – is discharged through a 5-km long outfall pipe into the sea at a depth of 50 meters.
