Project Description
With the 132,000 m3/day-capacity Büyükçekmece Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant, the pollution risk of Lake Büyükçekmece, one of İSKİ’s most important drinking water sources, has been eliminated. The water treated at Büyükçekmece Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment and pretreatment plants is transferred to the new treatment plant through tunnels and is subjected to biological treatment.
The plant that services a total population of 500,000, will treat wastewater including their phosphor and nitrogen particles, and turn it into clean water that is not harmful to nature. Once the plant begins operating, the pollution risk of Lake Büyükçekmece, one of İSKİ’s most important drinking water sources, will be fully eliminated and no more wastewater will be discharged from this region into the Marmara Sea.
