Project Description
The Küçükçekmece Wastewater Pretreatment Plant which treats the wastewater of Istanbul’s Küçükçekmece district and large parts of Avcılar and Bakırköy districts services a total population of 1,400,000. Thanks to the collection of an average of 354,000 m3 of wastewater flowing directly into the sea through collectors in the 12,5km-coastline from Yeşilköy to the Ambarlı Creek, the risk of pollution in Lake Küçükçekmece, one of the world’s important lagoons, has been eliminated while its surroundings have become a natural recreational area.
